Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga has signed a two-year extension with his Saudi Pro League club Al-Qadsiah, keeping the prolific striker in the Middle East until 2028. The deal, reported to be worth over KSh 800 million annually, makes Olunga one of the highest-paid Kenyan footballers of all time.
A Record-Breaking Deal
Olunga, 30, has been in electric form this season, netting 22 goals in 28 appearances. The extension comes despite reported interest from clubs in England’s Championship and the Turkish Super Lig.
Kenya’s Pride
Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Nick Mwendwa congratulated Olunga on the milestone. “Michael is an inspiration to every young footballer in this country. He proves that Kenyan talent belongs on the world stage,” he said.
AFCON Qualifiers in Focus
With AFCON 2027 qualifiers resuming in September, Olunga’s continued form and fitness will be crucial for Harambee Stars’ hopes of reaching the continental tournament. Kenya face Uganda and Tanzania in their next qualifying fixtures.
