Kenya Power has notified customers in seven counties to expect electricity interruptions on Thursday, July 16, 2026. The outages are part of scheduled maintenance works on the national transmission and distribution network and are expected to last several hours in the affected areas.
Counties Affected
The utility did not disclose the full list of affected specific areas in its notice, but said the counties covered include parts of the Central, Eastern, and Rift Valley regions. Customers in affected areas were advised to plan accordingly, particularly businesses that rely on continuous power supply.
Why the Interruptions?
Kenya Power said the works are necessary to upgrade infrastructure, replace aging equipment, and prevent unplanned outages that are more disruptive to consumers. The utility said it gives advance notice to allow hospitals, schools, and businesses to make alternative arrangements.
